The Anxiety and Worry Program is designed to help you understand the nature of anxiety and worry and to learn the skills and strategies that help manage anxiety and improve overall mental health and wellbeing.
This program is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and has been developed by psychologists and researchers from the National eTherapy Centre.
What to Expect?
The Anxiety and Worry program has 12 modules that you can do in your own time and have access to for 12 months.
It provides information about anxiety and introduces skills and strategies that can help you to:
- Understand and identify anxiety and worry
- Monitor and reduce specific anxiety symptoms
- Gain control of physical reactions
- Identify and replace unhelpful beliefs and ways of thinking
- Learn problem-solving techniques
- Make lifestyle changes to improve your wellbeing
How do I use the Anxiety and Worry Online program?
You can enrol in the program after signing up for an account with Mental Health Online.
You can work through the Anxiety and Worry Online program by yourself or with support from one of our therapists. You can use the program in a flexible way, in your own time, and in a way that fits into your week. To get the most out of the program, we recommend committing a few hours a week to learn from the program materials and to practice the skills and strategies they introduce.
Considering therapist support?
If you reside in Australia, you can also sign up to our free Therapist Assist option to access 12 weeks of support from our therapists while you use the program.
If you choose this option you will talk with one of our therapists over the phone before beginning your program. During your program you will receive weekly email support from your therapist. You will also have the option of adding up to four live sessions with your therapist via our secure video and chat platform.
Is this program right for me?
A certain amount of worry is normal in everyday life, but when worry, tension, and anxiety becomes excessive, are experienced most of the time, and are present for more than 6 months; they may be symptoms of Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). You might also find the Anxiety and Worry Online program useful if you don’t have a diagnosis of GAD, but have difficulties with worry.
The Anxiety and Worry Online program may be most helpful for people who experience mild to moderate anxiety. It has been created for people who are:
- Over the age of 18 years
- Australian residents
You can also complete our online mental health self-assessment called the e-PASS which will make recommendations about the program that might be right for you.
How do I get started?
Making changes to support our mental health can be challenging and it takes time. We recommend putting aside a few hours each week to read about and work on the skills in the Anxiety and Worry Online program.
